An Encouraging Word

An Encouraging Word

In everyone's life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit.

~Albert Schweitzer~

We all have times when the burdens we face become overwhelming, or the circumstances in our life leave us feeling completely discouraged. A simple word of encouragement, gesture of kindness, or just the showing of care and compassion during those times, can lift someone from the depths of despair and rekindle the hope that is within them. As we go about our busy day, it's very easy to overlook these priceless opportunities. We cry out to be used for some great purpose, or be given the resources to make a difference, when all the while the ability to do so is right before us. Every day, we can be the light that shines in a dark and weary world, for someone. All it takes is awareness!

Let me say first of all that your faith in God is becoming known throughout the world. How I thank God through Jesus Christ for each one of you. God knows how often I pray for you. Day and night I bring you and your needs in prayer to God, whom I serve with all my heart by telling others the Good News about his Son. One of the things I always pray for is the opportunity, God willing, to come at last to see you. For I long to visit you so I can share a spiritual blessing with you that will help you grow strong in the Lord. I'm eager to encourage you in your faith, but I also want to be encouraged by yours. In this way, each of us will be a blessing to the other.

~Romans 1:8-12 (NLT)~

I do it to encourage them. Then as their hearts are joined together in love, they will be wonderfully blessed with complete understanding. And they will truly know Christ. Not only is he the key to God's mystery, but all wisdom and knowledge are hidden away in him.

~Colossians 2:2,3 (CEV)~

And we urge you, brothers, warn those who are idle, encourage the timid, help the weak, be patient with everyone. Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always try to be kind to each other and to everyone else. Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. Do not put out the Spirit's fire;

~1 Thessalonians 5:14-19 (NIV)~
